I’m one of the crafty folks around here and I could hardly wait to get my hands on the gift wraps, tissues and natural ribbons. So naturally I was excited when I saw our new handmade products from Distant Village.
Our Merchandise Director came up with this beautiful packaging idea for Christmas gifts (at left) using the Mulberry Blend papers, Sinamay ribbon and natural enclosure card in the pretty red card holder. They turned out top notch.
I put a new video in this blog to show you some ideas on how to use these new sustainable, eco-friendly products.
The Sinamay ribbon is my new favorite ribbon. Here is a little video I made to show you how easy it is to tie.
The wide Sinamay ribbon makes a fantastic presentation when paired with tissue and placed in shopping bags like these little banana paper bags with bamboo handles (at left) – love it!
I was curious to see how the Distant Village gift wrap and tissue compared to handmade paper I had previously purchased from my local art supply store. So, I experimented with the Mulberry blend papers on a collage I gave to my husband for Christmas (at right). They worked as well as the ones I had been using and were much less expensive. You can see a step-by-step for this project on my personal blog.
Another ribbon available from Distant Village is the Manila Hemp Twine. It reminds me of the twine we used to use in a variety of craft and wrapping projects. It is easy to untwist and tie. Below, a couple of ways to use it are shown.
Nashville Wraps has been working towards creating reusable and re-giftable packaging. So I absolutely can’t wait to get my own Coconut Shell Accessories! I am going to make jewelry and hang tags from them. I am also going to include them on my collages! Won’t the butterfly be stunning on a garden themed collage?
