Three Fifty Project Logo

Have you heard about this growing movement? As independent merchants, it's a cause you can certainly get behind. The 3/50 Project espouses support for local businesses and contribution to local economies.

How? It's a simple idea with a profound impact:

The idea is to commit to spending $50 total each month to three locally owned businesses. Maybe that means rethinking where you currently invest your money, opting to pick up that birthday card or pair of jeans in a locallly owned business instead of the big box you've been going to. Or maybe it means eating out once a month because you realize slamming the breaks on all spending stalls economic recovery. It's just that simple. (Quoted from the 3/50 website)

There is a lot you can do to join, promote, and assist this cause - information, news, and resources are available on the 3/50 website: http://www.the350project.net/home.html. Now is the time to jump on the bandwagon - the business you help to save may just be your own.

This is an amazing project that has grown exponentially in just over a month. Credit needs to be given to Cinda Baxter who organized the movement, provided retail stores and project supporters with information, flyers and electronic images and garnered national exposure the project. Since Cinda got behind The 3/50 Project it has been mentioned on Seth Godin's blog, Gifts and Dec's newsletter, OneCoast Advisor Newsletter, Mike Landfair's blog, Abby Kerr's blog Lettres from the Blissful, both CBS and NBC news affiliates have picked up the story and there are pages for it on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkIn, and Likaholix. And that's just a partial list, word is spreading fast!

More information can be found on Cinda's Always Upward blog http://alwaysupward.com/blog/ and as mentioned http://www.the350project.net/home.html
