New Resources for Retailers

The first of six video segments I filmed for the Gift & Home Channel has just debuted!

In the first segment, I introduce you to two business women who have created a business by helping others succeed. (No wonder I love them!) Serena Thompson and Teri Edwards are 'the Farm Chicks', and for the past ten years, they have built a business, a loyal following, and an antique show in Spokane Washington that rivals the best anywhere. This past June, over 120 vendors and 5000 attendees filled the Spokane Fairgrounds for two days. It was madness, mayhem, and retail heaven!

The reason I pitched the idea to GHC to film videos at this show is to open your minds to new resources for your retail stores. While I love the gift shows and showrooms as much as the next girl, we need to think bigger and broader in order to differentiate our shops from everyone else. Being unique, being expressive and creative in developing our visual image is part of that.

In my six segments, you'll meet five talented business women, see remarkable displays and FABulous new products that will have you running out the door to your nearest antique show, flea market, and swap meet. Need unique props for displays? Fixtures for products? An eye-popping, show-stopping idea for a big event or a new season? How about fabulous unique one-of-a-kind merchandise that you won't see in any showroom - and better yet, you won't see it in any store near yours, either! You'll find it at the Farm Chicks show.

Don't fret if getting to Spokane is not in your plan - there is a treasure chest of inspiration awaiting you at venues like this all over the country. Find shows in your region by doing a Google search for antique shows, flea markets, and swap meets. Check out show listings in magazines like Country Living and Country Home, as well. (Country Living is involved with the Farm Chicks show, too.)

And for more information on the Farm Chicks show, visit the web site at www.thefarmchicks.com. The show is scheduled for June 6 & 7 this year - and I'll be there!
