Discovering Retail Resources

I am so impressed with the lengths to which the Gift & Home Channel will go to provide resources for the retail community! When I first met Ray Gaulke last February at the Denver Gift Show, I was amazed as I listened to him explain the vision for this channel. He invited me to work with GHC to create some video content, and we've been putting that together ever since. Recently, Brittany Lund came on board as the project director, and has guided the concept into reality. Taking my concept and refining it, adding ideas, and coordinating the logistics of the shoot has been on her very full plate.

This past weekend, I was joined on location in Spokane, Washington by Brittany and the Emmy award-winning crew from Peak Video Productions to shoot video segments. I've been a speaker, an interviewee, and a guest on camera - but a gig as a video segment host was new to me. (What can I say? I'll try anything to share information & inspiration with you!) This team made the process easy, simple, fun, and successful.

Our shooting schedule was insane, because of the particular venue and timing - we had just two hours to shoot six segments before the show opened to the public and the noise level went sonic. That's about 15 minutes of filming (in between walking to locations and getting lit & miked) to get a five minute usable clip. Now, I'm a quick study and I'm used to ad-libbing on my feet in my trade show seminars, but this? I could have been a wreck, Nope. Not with this team! In six segments, we only had to restart twice - due to one flub on my part, and one interruption of a very loud banging noise from somwhere else in the building!

It was all a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I am very certain that the content will be information that you can use! It's in post-production now and should air by the end of July. Stay tuned for more! And thank you, Brittany and GHC, for the opportunity. I'm looking forward to the next time we work together!
